Today we learned how to make a collage on a human body using existing elements. From the street graffiti photos already taken, we selected elements that we could use and then applied them to the design. Then we made simple line drawings based on the collage.

It was a fun class and I was very focused on finishing my stuff. Of course, since I hadn’t done this type of creation before, I was a little slow in completing it. I also have a unique personal drawing style, and I hope I can explore the most suitable drawing style for my own creation soon.

PPD Questions:

1:What did you enjoy most or least about the class task?

I enjoyed the post painting process in class because it was free and not limited to each person’s personal style, so I was happy to paint freely, and the instructor always encouraged me to create in my own style, which I really liked that part. I also enjoyed the process of choosing materials from existing images and making collages. This process allowed me to try to find more possibilities and to use as many elements as I could, and I enjoyed this challenging learning.

What I didn’t like was perhaps the overly tedious prep work. I’m not a person who likes to bother with things, and I often get annoyed during the preparation process so I stop halfway. I hope that in the future I can be more patient in my preparation and try to be more detailed and thorough.

2:How did you move from one idea to the next.  Was this easy or difficult?

I think moving idea to another is not an easy task. For me, I would analyze the shape of the model’s body and style first, so that I can analyze what kind of shape would be more suitable for him. After that, I look for the right shape and color from the pictures I already have, cut them out and try to combine them several times, and choose the more interesting ones for the collage. But I am always influenced by the collage that I have already made, I choose to pick a scene or an image in my mind, so that my brain is familiar with the image I want to use and make a collage with that image.

3:Did you see the value in using your own images rather than internet pictures?

The value of first-hand research is great. In the process of collecting first-hand research, it is more intuitive to directly select material that can be used. In first-hand research, more accurate data and images can be obtained. The images you take are limited, so you can exercise your ability to create from limited materials and to collect information and analyze whether it can be used when you do the task. The ability to research and use research data is also exercised.
